Street Team SJ |
Street Team SJ was started in Saint John, New Brunswick by Johanne and Ivan McCullough in October 2022 as a way to give away excess food in their freezers. What began as a grassroots initiative quickly grew as committed teams of volunteers joined them with a shared goal: to support homeless individuals in their community. Their efforts include providing meals, collecting donations, and offering essential supplies to those in need.

Home Hearts Program |
Two months after launching, Street Team SJ mobilized the community to prepare and deliver nightly meals to the Out of the Cold Shelter. Dedicated volunteers ensured that 40 people received a meal every single night for nearly five months, without missing a beat. This remarkable achievement was repeated the following year, and Street Team SJ remains steadfast in their commitment to providing winter support as long as it’s necessary.

The Green Room |
In the beginning of 2024, Street Team SJ partnered with Fresh Start, the Human Development Council, and the City of Saint John to establish the Green Room at the former Belyea Arena. This space serves as a hub for donated used clothing and household items, specifically intended for local community organizations to request items for their unhoused or newly housed clients.
